Maxwell Hill (Bukit Larut)


•    Located about 9 km away from Taiping town and 70 km from Ipoh. Go towards the direction of Taiping Lake garden and you are almost at the foot hill.
•    Established by William Edward Maxwell (Assistant British Resident of Perak) in 1884.
•    Maxwell Hill standing at 1,250 m above sea level is one of the least developed hill resort in Malaysia and is Gazette as a permanent forest reserve. She has a daily temperature ranges from 10 ºC to 25º C
•    There are no international hotels here and accommodation is basically bungalows and rest houses, some of which were built almost a century ago.
•    In a clear day, you can see the beautiful west coast of the peninsular including Pangkor Island.
•    A good place for bird-watchers and nature lovers as the lush tropical rainforests offers varieties of flora and fauna and various species of birds.
•    Trekkers can use the jungle trail to trek up the hill and it will take about three to four hours to reach Gunung Hijau depends on your physical ability. You can enjoy the exotic view along the way.
•    Besides trekking up the hill, visitors other alternative is to book the government Jeep with the driver. The road up the hill is steep and narrow with many sharp bends that you really need a very skilful driver to do the job. The transport service is provided from 8am to 5pm daily with a frequency of 1 hour.
